open source cookies
it’s so simple but tastes so good:
cream together:
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 cup sugar
blend
* in 1 large egg
sift together and add to mixture:
* 2 to 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 tsp. baking powder
* 1/2 tsp. salt
* 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Divide dough in two parts. Chill 1 to 2 hours. Roll out dough, cut it into fun shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Cook at 375 8 to 10 minutes.
Now here is how to make the best frosting. It dries thick and shiny ( like the cookies at starbucks ).
Mix up 2 egg whites, 2 tsp lemon juice. Whip that up.
Then add 3 cups of powdered suger. Keep mixing and mixing. Then add about another cup to cup and a half until the frosting is really thick. It should stick to the beaters when you life them up and be the consistency of whipped creme. The key here is to not give up early when the frosting is too thin. Make it nice and thick.
Then add food coloring and immediately apply to the cookies that are out of the oven. This frosting dries when exposed to air.
*leah voice* mmmmm. That is soooo gooooood.
Speaking of simple things. Here is a link to a funny video of a baby laughing. This kid cracks up at every noise. It’s dumb but entertaining.

ash, i searched for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. i found one but it called for “pumkin pie spice.” because things like that are abundant in haiti. but guess what? i found it at the supermarket in their “harvest” section! and they turned out so good!
