Birthing Class #1
So last night was our first birthing class and we laughed quite a bit. It was funny to hear some of the things that people have been told by friends and family, for example to not raise your arms over your head in case the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby’s neck. The thought being that by raising your arm(s) you would strangle the baby. Because everyone knows that umbilical cords are tied to the mothers wrists apparently. Who comes up with that? Seriously. I hear something like that and get the feeling that I’m in the south eastern mountains, listening to advice from a tobacco chewing great grandmother who plays the banjo and heals childhood diseases with moss and lizzard legs.

well, if you had advice from haitians you would hear that if you’re upset and you cry, don’t breastfeed your child following that because your angry blood mixes with the milk and then that can make your baby crazy.
i wish i was joking.
