Their Turn

I was looking through our pics of last year and saw this one of Niki and Julie at my baby shower. It made me so happy to think that this year they get to be the pregnant ones in the heat of the summer. I love you both, but I’m ok with it being your turn.

Please enjoy this video from our recent camping trip. It is about ten minutes long.

Jr. Park Rangers

Kings Canyon National Park Jr. Ranger Badge
This weekend we went camping with some of our friends. Ashley and Gary worked very hard to earn their Jr. Ranger Badge (left). I’ll post an edited video of the whole trip in a few days. For now, see below for a great video of their inauguration.

Mat’s Haiku

I just wanted to point out that our friend Mat has been producing some great Haiku’s over at his Haiku Blog. The above picture is the cover of his recent paper Zine.

family update

Not much new to report here at the Murray’s. We got a new piano. Gary was kind enough to help us move it and let us use his truck. My dad, Mike and Greg provided the muscle necessary to push it up the stairs. Gary quickly learned that it’s good to have friends “owe you one” when it comes to moving large instruments: He got a piano the very next weekend so I helped him move it.

Our baby is still growing quickly. Ashley’s tummy is doing the watusi but overall she is able to function. We’re changing Dr’s so hopefully we will be able to have the baby close to my work.

The Spanglers recently introduced us to the amazing BBC documentary Planet Earth. If you haven’t seen it I would highly recommend it. I thought I had seen nearly all of the wildlife programs that TV had to offer but nearly every episode provides phenomenal examples of creation that I had never seen before.

That’s pretty much all for now. Shay has convinced me to use Twitter. I don’t think I really get it. But I’m going to try for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. If you’re a twitter person, you can follow me here.

Erin and Nate playing Christmas Songs

Erin came over the other night and we practiced our Christmas songs. I still need a lot of work on the bass but it’s still a fun first bass video. Thanks for coming over and playing, Erin!

Gary: Mike, when I die you can marry my wife
Mike: I already have a wife.
Gary: Okay, well if my wife and I come over for dinner and then Julie and I have to go to the grocery store and we get killed in a car accident then you can marry my wife.
Julie: If you and your wife come over and you ask me to go to the grocery store I’m not going!

camping trip

This weekend we had a blast going camping with some people from church. Ash and I are going to be posting a little more about it but I wanted to post these pictures as quickly as possible. Click here.

Haircut and Garlic Ice Cream

So for Christmas my boss gave me a gift certificate for the Amadeus Spa and Salon. I went there today with Leah, and we got haircuts. Here are pictures of my new hair. I love going there, I got a haircut there last year when I had a gift certificate, and I wish that I could get my hair cut there all the time. Its like $100 for a haircut though, so I’ll just have to be satisfied with Fantastic Sams. After that, Leah and I went shopping and then picked Nate up from work and we went to The Stinking Rose, a garlic themed restaraunt in Beverly Hills. We had garlic bread with garlic spread, garlic chicken, whole cooked garlic cloves, garlic mashed potatos, even garlic ice cream. The ice cream was suprisingly good. All in all, it was a great afternoon and evening and I was so happy for a break in my week. And I can say with certainty that there will be no vampires at our house tonight.
